The Astral Winds
School of Novices
Level Progression
 
 
All students begin the course as a Level 1 Novice.  As they progress through the course, they will rise in level (towards level 6).  Each level denotes what equipment a student is allowed to use, as well as what kind of battles they may participate in.  As students progress in level, they will receive a small favor to wear on their belts to denote their accomplishments.
 
 
Below is a description of the various favors that can be earned, and what a student must accomplish to receive one.
 
LEVEL 1
(No Belt Favor)
Weapons Allowed:
  • Single Short Sword
Battles Allowed:
  • Ditch Battles
 
All Students start at this level.
 
LEVEL 2
(Blue Belt Favor with a white "II")
 
Weapons Allowed:
  • Single Short Sword
  • Double Short Sword (Florentine)
 
Battles Allowed:
  • Ditch Battles
 
In order to attain this level, students must complete the following checklist:
  • ATTEND 4 CLASSES
  • CREATE A BROWN TUNIC AND ACQUIRE BLACK PANTS
  • CREATE 2 SWORDS
  • PERFORM PAGE DUTIES ON 2 OCCASIONS
  • DISPLAY PROFICIENCY WITH THE SHORT SWORD
  • COMPETE IN A SHORT SWORD TOURNAMENT
  • PASS THE AMTGARD KINGDOM OVERVIEW TEST
LEVEL 3
( White Belt Favor with a blue "III")
Weapons Allowed:
  • Single Short Sword
  • Double Short Sword (Florentine)
  • Sword and Shield
 
Battles Allowed:
  • Ditch Battles
  • Militia Battles
 
In order to attain this level, students must complete the following checklist:
  • ATTEND A TOTAL OF 8 CLASSES
  • CREATE A SHIELD
  • PERFORM PAGE DUTIES ON 2 MORE OCCASIONS
  • DISPLAY PROFICIENCY WITH DOUBLE SHORT SWORD
  • COMPETE IN A DOUBLE SHORT SWORD TOURNAMENT
  • ATTEND A SPECIAL EVENT
  • PASS THE ASTRAL WINDS HISTORY TEST
  • PASS THE EQUIPMENT OVERVIEW TEST
LEVEL 4
(Green Belt Favor with black "IV")
Weapons Allowed:
  • Single Short Sword
  • Double Short Sword (Florentine)
  • Sword and Shield
  • Pole Arm
 
Battles Allowed:
  • Ditch Battles
  • Militia Battles
 
In order to attain this level, students must complete the following checklist:
  • ATTEND A TOTAL OF 12 CLASSES
  • CREATE A POLE ARM
  • PERFORM PAGE DUTIES ON 2 MORE OCCASIONS
  • DISPLAY PROFICIENCY WITH SWORD AND SHIELD
  • COMPETE IN A SWORD AND SHIELD TOURNAMENT
  • PARTICIPATE IN 2 MILITIA BATTLES
  • PASS THE CLASSES/ARMOR TEST
  • PASS THE DRAGONSPINE HISTORY TEST
  • PASS THE MAGIC OVERVIEW TEST

 

LEVEL 5
(Black Belt Favor with White "V")
Weapons Allowed:
  • Single Short Sword
  • Double Short Sword (Florentine)
  • Sword and Shield
  • Pole Arm
  • Flails
 
Battles Allowed:
  • Ditch Battles
  • Militia Battles
  • Jugging
  • Class Battles
 
In order to attain this level, students must complete the following checklist:
  • ATTEND A TOTAL OF 16 CLASSES
  • CREATE A SHAPED WEAPON
  • PERFORM PAGE DUTIES ON 2 MORE OCCASIONS
  • DISPLAY PROFICIENCY WITH POLE ARM
  • COMPETE IN A POLE ARM TOURNAMENT
  • PARTICIPATE IN A 3rd AND 4th MILITIA BATTLE
  • PASS THE REEVE'S TEST
  • ATTEND A 2nd SPECIAL EVENT
 

 

LEVEL 6
(Green and Black Favor with Astral Winds heraldry )
Weapons Allowed:
  • Any
 
Battles Allowed:
  • Any
 
In order to attain this level, students must complete the following checklist:
  • ATTEND A TOTAL OF 20 CLASSES
  • CREATE A FLAIL
  • CREATE CLASS EQUIPMENT
  • PERFORM PAGE DUTIES ON 2 MORE OCCASIONS
  • DISPLAY PROFICIENCY WITH FLAIL
  • PARTICIPATE IN A 5th MILITIA BATTLE
  • PARTICIPATE IN 3 JUGGING MATCHES
  • PARTICIPATE IN 5 CLASS BATTLES
  • ATTEND A 3rd SPECIAL EVENT
  • PASS THE CORPORA - GENERAL TEST
  • PASS THE CORPORA - AWARDS TEST
